Since I assumed my present office I have often

wished to come to Hongkong to pay Your Excellency my respects, so that I may have the benefit of your advice and maintain the friendly relations existing between our countries. Pressure of work has, however, prevented me from realizing my wish, and I am disappointed.

I have now specially requested General Lung Kan-kwong, Garrison Commissioner, and Admiral Iu Wai-man, Commissioner for Naval Affairs, together with their suite to represent mê, They are coming down on the Gunboat Shiu Wo and will arrive in Hongkong on Thursday the 30th. April at 1 p.m. when they will wait on Your Excellency and convey you my respects.
